Dean Fealk, head of DLA Piper’s Global
Equity practice, has been appointed outside general counsel to the
Halifax International Security Forum, a leading non-profit organization
devoted to meeting emerging threats and promoting democratic values. The
forum’s fourth annual summit, which is being held November 16-18, has
been dubbed the “Davos of International Security” by Time magazine and the Atlantic Monthly.
“We are delighted to have Dean on our team,” said Peter Van Praagh,
president of the forum. “Not only is he a preeminent lawyer in the area
of international law, but he also brings to the table deep knowledge of
and extensive background in foreign policy.”

Fealk advises leading multinational
companies on a wide range of legal and strategic issues related to doing
business overseas, including corporate, securities, regulatory, tax,
labor, foreign exchange and data privacy.
Active in civic affairs and public policy, he is a Truman National
Security Fellow and a Carnegie New Leader of the Carnegie Council. He
was named to the Daily Journal’s lists of “California's Top 20 Attorneys under 40” and “Top 75 Labor and Employment Lawyers in California,” the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal's list of "40 Under 40" in Silicon Valley and the New Leader's Council's
list of “top 40 political entrepreneurs in the nation under the age of
40.” He is a graduate of Leadership San Francisco and the executive
leadership program at Harvard Business School.
