Melba Opera Trust sings DLA Piper’s praises

27 Mar 2012

Corporate partner Gerry Bean and his team have been providing pro bono support to the Dame Nellie Melba Opera Trust (Melba Opera Trust), advising them on gifts and bequests – a vital funding source for the non-profit education and mentoring group. Last week the team succeeded in an application on behalf of the Melba Opera Trust to the Attorney General to change the terms of an historic trust endowment.

The Melba Opera Trust, formerly the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, supports the development of young Australian opera singers through scholarships, mentoring with industry specialists and performance experience.

Peter Garnick, Managing Director of the Melba Opera Trust said the DLA Piper team had been instrumental in assisting the organisation with their initial transition from a conservatorium to its current trust structure. “I’m also particularly pleased with the team’s recent successful application to the Attorney General.”
