DLA Piper advises IT security specialist Sophos on the acquisition of Dialogs Software
23 Apr 2012
DLA Piper has advised Sophos, one of the leading suppliers of complete security systems in the field of IT and data security, on the acquisition of the German company Dialogs Software based in Dortmund. The acquisition was effected through purchase of all shares in Dialogs Software from the previous owners, Frank Zimmermann and Rainer Kleiser.
Dialogs Software specializes in mobile device management (MDM) and is among the European market leaders in this field. The company develops cross-platform solutions for smartphones, tablets and remote access, which provide data protection and secure mobile access for sensitive corporate data. Customers of Dialogs include BMW, Daimler, Siemens and ThyssenKrupp. Sophos specializes in all-round solutions to deal with data protection, antivirus and antispam for networks in enterprises, universities, schools and government departments and, by taking over the German MDM company, is increasing its security expertise in the mobile sector.
Dr Benjamin Parameswaran, a partner in the German Corporate Group at DLA Piper, says: "Following the acquisition of Utimaco and Astaro Software, the takeover of Dialogs Software is the third German transaction in which we have been able to support Sophos since 2008. This underlines our expertise in the very dynamic and exciting technological segment of IT and data security."
The team from DLA Piper was headed by Dr Benjamin Parameswaran (partner, Hamburg), Charles Severs (partner, London) and Dr Michael Sörgel (counsel, Cologne) and also consisted of counsel Dr Kai Bodenstedt and associates Dr Henriette Norda (both Employment, Hamburg), Sebastian Decker (Corporate, Hamburg), Dr Marc von Kopp (Corporate, Cologne), Christopher Götz, Dr Christian Kau (both IPT, Cologne) and Dr Thilo Streit (Litigation & Regulatory, Cologne).
